A provisional booking may be made by customers via phone or email (following confirmation) and will be held for 5 days pending receipt of a completed booking form accompanied by the non-refundable 50% booking deposit or full payment. The balance is payable one full calendar month before commencement of the tour, after which time non-payment will result in your tour being cancelled, thus forfeiting your 50% non-refundable deposit. In the event of cancellation by the customer, for whatever reason, the payment (less the booking deposit) is only refundable if the tour is re-sold for the same period. Written cancellations must be sent Recorded Delivery to "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" and signed by the signatory of the Booking Form (the main driver in the Booking Form), which will become effective on the day it is received and signed for.

Should "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" to cancel your tour for reasons beyond their control, a full no quibble refund of your deposit would be forthcoming. All fees paid in advance by the customer will be refundable in full less the price of the pre-booked ferry. In this case the ferry booking would be passedon to the customer to proceed independently. The customer shall have no further claim against "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" , Off Road UK (the trading name of "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours") or its Directors. "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" also reserves the right to decline or accept any booking, plus cancel a tour in progress without refund due to offensive behaviour and/or actions liable to endanger representatives of "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" or their clients.

Balance of booking fees is payable six weeks before commencement of the tour. Non-payment of the balance after this time, the tour will be regarded as cancelled, thus forfeiting your 50% non-returnable deposit.

Tours can only be operated with a minimum of two vehicles. Should there only be one client for a particular date, “Pyrenees 4x4 Tours” reserve the right to (a) Provide an alternative date, or (b) Cancel the tour if the alternative date is unsuitable for the client. The latter would result in forfeit of the client's 50% non-returnable deposit.

All vehicles must have European breakdown, recovery and repatriation insurance - this is essential and mandatory. "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" do not provide mechanical assistance, but obviously will always assist wherever possible. We state categorically that no client will ever be abandoned or deserted 'in the middle of nowhere'. That is why professional breakdown issurance is essential, just in case! Indeed, should your vehicle's mechanical problems be terminal, most insurances such as the AA or RAC will not only repatriate your vehicle back to the UK (if it can't be fixed locally of course), they will also provide a hire car as part of their package. This means you will always remain mobile, no matter what. Peace of mind is good, that's what we practice.

All clients must have relevant medical insurance and are responsible for their own health requirements throughout the tour.
IMPORTANT: Whether you are in possession of private medical cover or not, when travelling in the EU and outside the community, it is important that you complete and register a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to receive reduced cost or even free medical treatment in a foreign country. Actually this is a very simple process. Merely apply online at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or by calling the EHIC Application Line on 0845 606 2030 (this equates to a 2 minute call). Other than your personal details - name/address/date of birth - they will ask for your NHS number (England and Wales), Community Health Index Number (Scotland) or Health and Care Number (Northern Ireland). Alternatively, you can give your National Insurance Number.

Trailers are permissible but must ‘off-road capable’, that is trailers that are specially-built for the purpose. The additional cost of a trailer for the ferry crossing will be passed on to the customer.

All makes and models of road legal standard/modified 4x4 vehicle are eligible on tours (with or without a low ratio gearbox), although four-wheel-drive cars can suffer from low ground clearance. If in doubt, contact us for advice before booking.

The same goes for 'off-road driver ability' and 'navigation skills'. Although the tours can at times be challenging, there are no sections where a standard driver cannot cope after some very basic advisory tuition from the "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" representative. As for navigation, we provide "guided tours" so skilled navigation is never a requirement.

Other than knowing each tour heads east from Santander or Bilbao, visits the tax-free haven of Andorra and returns westbound back to Santander/Bilbao, "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" do not publish an itemised set itinerary or route. This is because local conditions can change hour to hour, therefore we have to be totally adaptable to overcome any obstacles put in our way such as diversions, rockfalls, etc. That said, rarely do we have to ‘back track’ along the same route, and even if we do the scenery and road conditions are totally different anyway! Variety is what we are all about, so that is exactly what we provide … in abundance!

We also try and fit into the schedule as many off-road tracks and trails as possible. However, such are the amazing roads in the Pyrenees, even tarmac-driving can be fun and the vistas stunning. There is nothing 'ordinary' about a road trip in the beautiful Pyrenees!

"Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" cannot be held liable for any damage, injury or death whilst driving on or off-road. Although we will always choose what in our experience are ‘non-damaging routes’ – e.g. non-paintwork scratching – off-road routes can never be classed as 100% non-damaging. The risk of damage to your vehicle and/or person is always present, hence you are fully responsible for your own actions at all times.

Ferry bookings: "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" cannot be held responsible for the alteration of sailing schedules by ferry companies or the actions of third parties.

Regarding vehicle heights and lengths, obviously we can’t list the height & length of every 4x4 past and present, so we have based ferry bookings on the majority of standard 4x4 vehicles on factory approved tyres – height up to 1.83 m, length up to 2.6 m. Should the dimensions of your vehicle be above (up to 2.6 m high, up to 6 m long), please inform us as this will incur an additional charge. The ferry companies can be very stringent regarding height and length!

As height is more critical because of the addition of aftermarket accessories such as larger tyres, roof racks, roof tents, etc., here follows a rough guide:-

1.83 m max ferry height (Range Rover Classic 1.71, Toyota Landcruiser Amazon 1.85, Toyota Landcruiser VX 1.89, Toyota Hilux Surf 1.67, Isuzu Trooper Bighorn/II 1.82, Nissan Patrol 1.85).

2.6 m max ferry height (Land Rover 90/110/Defender 2.13)

As for the transportation of fuel, the ferry company will carry both Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) vehicles onboard their vessels. The only stipulation is that the gas cylinder must be switched off prior to embarkation.
However, the transport of petrol cans onboard is strictly forbidden, and the transport of diesel in vehicles is only permitted in containers/jerrycans specifically constructed for the carriage of diesel and to a maximum of 5 litres per vehicle.

Please note that all images depicting the promotion of forthcoming "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" were shot on location in the Pyrenees during previous events organised by Tom McGuigan and Off Road UK. They are an accurate representation of the scenes, animals, tracks and trails likely to be encountered on proposed "Pyrenees 4x4 Tours" dates.

In case you are wondering, children and pets are welcomed on tours, but of course both under control at all times please!!! Due to negotiated discounts with Brittany Ferries coming to fruition, as from 20-04-12 we have been able to reduce child prices. Please see 'Prices' for the new fees.
